Today we had a day off from photographing skiing. We decided to drive to Banff and get some groceries and spend some time taking pictures.

Just when I thought that I didn't really get a good Instagram photo today... Boom... We are off road and shoveling... Instagram mission accomplished :) I'm just glad that I wasn't driving so it wasn't my fault :)

Luckily someone stopped and helped us out! It took us over an hour to dig the car out and than we got pulled out. I guess we needed a good workout :)

As you know, I'm photographing Alpine Ski World Cup at Lake Louise for USA TODAY Sports. We just finished photographing men's events and I thought I would do a blog post with some of my favourite photographs so far... in no particular order :)

Yesterday I photographed a graduation ceremony for CDI college in Calgary. Here are a few of my favourite photographs :)

I'm not a fan of Chicago Blackhawks but they do have some nice players on the team. Here are a few of my photographs from the NHL hockey game I photographed on Friday for USA TODAY Sports... This turned out to be a great game and I got some nice images :) For the first two periods I was shooting from the ice level through a hole in the glass.

Karri Ramo get sprayed with some ice... he made some great saves in this game.

For the third period I grabbed my big 400mm lens and headed to shoot the game from up high.

Everything was going great until battery in my camera died :( Over the three years shooting NHL hockey I never had problems going through the game on one battery but today was not my day... With the game tied up 1-1 and only two minutes left till the end of the game, I had to run all the way to the media room for a new battery. Luckily I made it back in time and the game ended with a nice overtime goal by Johnny Gaudreau.

Being a professional photographer, I really don't take enough of our personal photographs... Yesterday Oliver had his first unparented swimming class, so I thought it would be a good idea to take a few photographs :) Oliver did great, our boy is growing up!

So the plan for today was to go for a hike at Johnston Canyon to get some exercise and some photographs. Unfortunately when I arrived there I found out that Johnston Canyon was closed for repairs, I wish I knew before I drove that far :(

I did get to use my winter tires.. some roads were pretty covered in ice and snow :)

With freezing temperature I was happy that Gore-Tex on my shoes worked as advertised and I did not get my feet wet :)

Yesterday I drove to Edmonton to photograph an NHL hockey game between Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers for USA TODAY Sports. It was good to finally get a few shots of Connor McDavid.

Oilers fans during Edmonton's goal under review... it didn't help, goal was disallowed :)
