I just came back from a great photo shoot. I had a wonderful time hanging out at the pool and the models did a great job! I photographed some people at Mount Royal College swimming pool to be used for the "Rec Guide" cover and some photographs to be used inside of the magazine as well. Here are a few of my favorites.

It was pretty dark at the swimming pool. On my blog I'm trying to share some information on what I do when I photograph, so I thought I would post two of the following shots. I used 4 x 1600 AlienBees strobes set on light stands around the swimming pool and triggered by PocketWizards. All of them were pointed up and bounced of the ceiling. You can see one shot was taken with strobes turned on and one with out them using the same camera settings. I love shooting available light whenever is possible so every time I use strobes I'm trying to set them up in a way that the light would look very natural.

I photographed a couple of games at Mount Royal College tonight. Cougars played against SAIT's Trojans. I was pretty happy with the photographs that I got and thought I would share some of my favorites. Its 12 in the morning and Tracy and I are driving to Banff National Park with a couple of our good friends in about 7 hours so I better go and get some sleep :)

I finally have some time to update my blog :) This weekend I photographed Bowness Trojans Classic Basketball Tournament at Bowness High School in Calgary. This was my 3rd year photographing it and I always enjoy being there. In two weeks Bowness high school will be hosting another basketball tournament, this time it will be for girls, and I will be photographing it as well.

I was asked to take some photographs of Mount Royal College Cougars badminton team while they were practicing this evening. I had a pretty hard time getting good shots. The gym they practice at is very dark to photograph at and badminton is a very fast game. Shooting through the badminton net didn't really help either. I have to get some sleep now and tomorrow I'm away for a couple of days to photograph a basketball tournament.

Yesterday evening I had a great time photogrpahing hockey! Mount Royal College Cougars played against SAIT's Trojans. I was hired by Mount Royal college and because they won 9-1 it was great for me to photograph. The game had lots of goals and many great hits.

Some people were asking me about my setup and what I use for hockey games so I thought I would post this photo. This is what I bring for a hockey game. I usually use 6 AlienBees strobes all with PocketWizards remotes. I have four 1600 and two 800 strobes. The amount of cords would wary from game to game :) I sometimes bring light stands but mostly use Manfrotto super clamps to hang my strobes around the ice surface.

This Saturday I was asked to photograph for Mount Royal College and also for AirdrieLIFE magazine. I spent my evening shooting hockey, Mount Royal College Cougars played against SAIT's Trojans. Hockey is not my favorite sport to photograph because I get cold being so close to the ice for so long; but I still had a good time. I used AlienBees strobe lights and PocketWizards for all of these shots.

Yesterday I was hired to photograph a couple of volleyball games for Mount Royal College Cougars, who played against Red Deer College Kings and Queens. I had an awesome time and tried to be creative with my shots. I tried using slow shutter speed on some of the shots and tried more unusual angles. I used AlienBees strobe lights and some PocketWizards for all of these shots. Here are some of my favorite shots, I hope you like them :)

I'm back! It has been a while since I posted anything here. This weekend was the busiest weekend of the year for me and I am very tired. I photographed "Ring of Fire" ringette tournament here in Airdrie. It was a big tournament with 32 teams from all over the place with age range from bunnies to adults. I took many great photos and here are a few of them for you to see.

Just before the tournament on Thursday I photographed 2008 President's Reception at SAIT. It was a great big event with exotic music, Polynesian inspired dancers, and gourmet tropical cuisine. During this event I fell and smashed my camera on the ground. I was able to still take photographs and everything looks good but my filter shattered and I couldn't take it off. I will give it a try today using some pliers or something and hopefully its just the filter that is broken.
