Day 12: Oliver is on his way to the airport in Cancun, Mexico... We are going home!

Day 11: First day without rain in a while :) A bunch of workers were all in force fixing roofs around the resort in preparation for the next rain.

Because of the rain I have been reading lots more this vacation than other vacations. My book of choice for this trip is "Long Way Round". I have seen the TV show many many times but never read the book... so far it is great!

After breakfast Tracy, Oliver and I went to the ocean for a swim and to feed fish :) Oliver had lots of fun!

If you look closer, you will see fish is hanging on to Oliver's finger... Oliver was not a fan!

Of course, what kind of a day would it be without posting a photo of a iguana :)

Oliver is still a very big fan of all kind of bikes :)

After lunch we were off for some more water relaxation. The sun was out for less than a day after all the rain and I think I already sun burned a bit :(

Tomorrow we are off... Going home. Here is Oliver packing his toy truck.

Day 10: Another day in paradise? Rain, rain, and more rain :( This morning we went for some swimming in the ocean and Oliver had lots of fun feeding fish. Because it was raining, I didn't take my camera with me but I regretted it because I could have taken some nice photos. I wasn't so sad later on about it because at about 3pm my memory card died to the point of no restore and I would have lost all my images anyway.

In the evening I decided to brave the weather and to try to take some night time images of the resort. I always do it on our vacations but this time I learned my lesson... dont' leave it too late. Today I was trying to do it in a poring rain, with a strong wind, with a broken umbrella... and they didn't turn the lights on in swimming pools (probably because of the weather). So I didn't get any good photos other than a nice one of the buildings on the way back to our room. I'm pretty sure it will be raining tomorrow as well so I guess I will go home without night time images :(

Day 9: Well.. at least they are not evacuating us yet from all the rain water :) Rained again the whole day, and I think it will be raining again tomorrow and probably the next day, I'm running out of dry shorts... I guess we will see.

Nothing much to do but to photograph iguanas on a rainy day. Rain stopped for maybe 5 minutes and they all came out.

I noticed that I didn't post any food photos lately... well here is a photo of my lunch, I finally had a burger here :)

Oliver and Tracy were taking a nap so I decided to go for a walk on the beach... I wish the weather would be better but nothing I can do about it. I love watching water hit rocks, specially when its cloudy, cold and raining. I never been to England but I always imagined that it would be somewhat this way :)

After walking for a bit I found some Mayan Ruins.. not really but close enough :)

Sad but this old place had a better beach than our hotel... Not as long, but pretty nice.

In the afternoon we decided that if we already wet we might as well go swimming. It was raining and not as warm as we would like it to be but we still had fun :)

Day 8: Today it rained pretty much the whole day, other than some nice weather in the morning. I went for a walk around the resort and it reminded me of a movie, something like "28 Days Later" or something like that. It was hard to find any people anywhere, I guess it was a good day to find a good beach chair spot :)

Tracy didn't feel very good today so Oliver got her a balloon and a flower :)

Day 7: Well today was a difficult day! In the morning we noticed that Oliver had more spots on his body, like little pimples, and because the doctor told us that it could be Chicken Pox, we decided to take him back to the doctor. On a good note he didn't have high fever anymore.

After looking at Oliver for a bit, doctor said that he is "98% sure that it is Chicken Pox and Oliver would need to be quarantined and possibly will not be allowed to fly home". He said that we have to go to the Riviera Mayan hospital to see a children's doctor. After hearing all this I didn't feel so great.

One thing I have to say is that Ambulance and Hospital services here are great! Here we are driving to the hospital in the ambulance, going 160 km/h through a corner, needless to say we got there in no time!

After Oliver was examined by a doctor, we were told that he does NOT have Chicken Pox and this is a throat infection that he probably got on the way to Mexico and that what is causing the rash on his body. Doctor said that we should not have any problems flying home when the time will come and that Oliver should start feeling much better much sooner than I thought. We had to buy a spray for Oliver's throat and I guess we will see how it will go :)

With this being one of the most difficult days here at the resort it really turned out to also be one of the best. Oliver did great all day! In the evening all three of us went swimming and Oliver did many new interesting things in the water, than had a great dinner and we all had a wonderful evening. we really are so blessed to have such a nice little boy!

Day 6: While Oliver is taking his nap, I went for a walk around the resort, taking photos and trying to take my mind off Oliver.

I went for a little swim.. climbed on these rocks.. waves are very strong.. "makes you feel alive" being so close to the strong nature :)

When Oliver woke up we took him to the local doctor here at the resort.

Doctor said that his oxygen is good, his lungs are good.. he didn't find anything wrong with Oliver.. but did say that there were a few kids with Chicken Pox this week reported here at the resort.. So we have to be on the look out for it :(

Day 5: Our day started out great with some yoga on the beach with Tracy, Oliver, and my sister :)

Although our day started out great, it quickly went bad :( Our little Canadian ice-cream cone melted in the Mexican sun :( Oliver got high fever. We found some medicine to get it down for now but we will see how it will go tomorrow :( It is VERY difficult, if not impossible to find a cold place around this resort, I think I have stronger air conditioner in our house in Canada than they have them at this resort.

Day 4: Another day at the resort... here is our breakfast view :)

Every tropical vacation, Tracy and I go for a long walk on the beach.. for at least a couple of hours but usually even longer... I guess this one is not an exception :) We left Oliver with grandma and went for a walk. This time my dad and my sister joined us :)

We walked towards town Akumal, but didn't really make it all the way and had to go back.. pretty far and we didn't really have that much time. We did find this nice pier where we could relax in a hammock :)
