We had our first real snow :) and for the first time of this year I had to shovel it :( Luckily we decorated our house last weekend with some Christmas lights and now all the wires are hidden under the snow. As I heard on the radio, they had over 400 car accidents in Calgary today. What happens with people over the summer? Forgetting completely how to drive with a little bit of snow?

Some of my friends and I went for some sushi tonight to the Sumo Lounge restaurant at Eau Claire. I didn't have sushi for close to a year, so I was very excited about it and when it came time to order I ordered way too much. It was great, I should have sushi more often!

I'm back and still alive... barely!
This last weekend Tracy and I worked on a ringette tournament in Airdrie. We had 3 very hard days but it was all worth it. I barely had any breaks, just the time when they had to flood the ice. By the end of the first day I couldn't lift my arms, they were so sore from holding my camera. On the second day I mounted my camera on the monopod and it worked much better. By the end of the 3rd day, in the middle of the game, 3 out of 6 lights stopped working. The batteries in my PocketWizards had died and I had to run around and climb the ladder to replace all my batteries. It was stressful but not as bad as I thought it would be.
Now we just finished processing all the files and Tracy is burning DVDs to send out to the teams. I would like to thank all the organizers and volunteers, the tournament turned out great!

I probably will not have time to post for a couple of days. I will be photographing a ringette tournament in Airdrie. Its a pretty big tournament and I'm very happy they invited me to be their official photographer. I will have couple of very long days shooting from 6 am till 11 pm and than pretty much the whole day on Sunday. I'm very fortunate that I have the greatest fiance in the world who will do her usual great job on sales and processing so I don't have to stress as much and can concentrate on shooting!
Today I bought some supplies and went out to the arena to setup my strobes and scout the location. They should really have more power plugs! I couldn't find a single one around and had to wire everything from a dressing room. It took me 4 hours!. I usually use 4 x 1600 and 2 x 800 Alien Bees strobes for a hockey arena and I'm pretty happy with the results. Wish me luck and stay tuned for some photographs from the tournament!

Some of my friends and I spent a day at the Banff National Park. We went out for our first monthly photo club meeting. I didn't take any photos that I really liked, but we had great time talking about photographs and had a very nice lunch at a Greek restaurant.

I had a short photo shoot with a nice family this morning. We had some shots done outside of their house and by the fireplace. Here are a few of my favorites.

This evening I headed to Mount Royal College to cover a couple of volleyball games. Cougars played against Red Deer College and both men and women Cougars teams won.
I purchased a new Canon 1D Mark III not a long time ago and I think I maybe having some problems with autofocus. I have a tournament coming up next weekend and I'm trying to decide if I should use my new camera or use my Canon 1D mark II. Today I used both cameras for these games and tried to compare the results. Mark III did better with colors, was easier to use the bigger LCD screen and I think they both focused equally, so I'm pretty sure I will use Mark III for my upcoming ringette tournament.

Today I was outside scouting some possible locations for my future weddings and portrait photo shoots. It got dark much faster than I was expecting this evening, so I didn't see very much but I think I found at least a couple of good locations.

I didn't take any photographs today, but I updated my page a little. I finally started the separation of my Weddings gallery. I will add more photographs there soon, but for now you can take a look at it in my Galleries section.

I had a photo shoot scheduled this morning but in the morning we had some fresh snow and photo shoot got rescheduled. Because I was always working lately, I decided to go to the zoo and take some photographs for myself. It was snowing a lot but I had a great time.

We had my parents over for dinner tonight.

It was a very good game tonight. Mount Royal College Cougars girls team played against University of Calgary Dinos. In the beggining of the second period Cougars scored 3 goals in 5 minutes, and at the end defeted Dinos 3-1.

I played around with Showit Web today and made my first slideshow with photographs that I took at the Scorpions concert on September 10th. I was planning to implement some slideshows like this in my "Events" section in the future. This is my first ever slideshow, so I think in the future they can only get better.

Today I had to make a quick stop at Mount Royal College and take the last photo for Media Guide cover. This last shot if of 3 different sports combined all in one magazine: golf, badminton, and soccer.

I may be sick tomorrow from eating too much candy! Yesterday was our first Halloween at our new house. We were not sure how many kids we will have and bought a bunch of chocolate bars. But yesterday we only had 25 kids come to our door.. only 25! Yesterday evening we had nice weather also. Well I'm not really complaning, I love chocolate, so I will be happy for awhile.
